What Is HTTPS?
HTTPS is your standard HTTP protocol with a generous layer of delicious SSL encryption. When something goes wrong, it prevents people from modifying requests and snooping up your browsing. One key (public or private) is used to encrypt the data, and the other key is used to decrypt the data. The third key, the so-called session key, is encrypted on your computer with the public key you receive from the website server and shared with the server. The server decrypts this session key when it uses the secret private key.
